( BW)(MA-PROGRESS-SOFTWARE)(PRGS)(FLNK) FutureLink to Provide Hosting Services for Progress Software Corporation's Application Solutions

Business/Technology Editors

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 1999--

More Than 2000 Progress Software ISVs Can Now
"Lease" Their Applications to Customers Via Leading
Application Service Provider (ASP)

FutureLink Distribution Corp., (NASD OTC BB:FLNK), "The Computer Utility Company," and Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ:PRGS) announced today that FutureLink has been selected to provide application hosting and management services for Progress Software's 2,000 Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and their estimated 5,000 Progress -based applications solutions available worldwide. The announcement was made here today at Progress Software's 1999 Worldwide Users Conference.
FutureLink will provide hosting services for applications developed by participating Progress Software's ISVs, charging end-users on a per-seat monthly subscription basis. FutureLink will manage and deliver these application capabilities to end users from its data centers across a wide area network.
For end users, this new program presents a viable alternative to costly procurement, implementation and management of Progress-based applications and provides a vehicle for precisely controlling total cost of technology ownership.
"Our experience has shown that vertical applications focused on the small to midsize market are a great fit for the ASP model," said Cameron Chell, chairman and chief executive officer of FutureLink. "Applications built on Progress by their ISVs are brilliantly positioned for the ASP market because of their thin-client flexibility and lowest total cost of ownership. We look forward to working with such a well-positioned partner as Progress Software."
"We are pleased to team with FutureLink, the industry leading full-service ASP, and are looking forward to many of our more than 2,000 ISVs being able to quickly penetrate new markets via this exciting new model," said, Jeff Weil, ASP program director, Progress Software. "FutureLink's focus on small to mid-size businesses maps well to our more than 5,000 Progress-based applications that have industry leading low total cost of ownership solutions. Progress Software technology, together with FutureLink - the Computer Utility Company - are sure to be successful."
