Mining companies will often lead bullion, but it is unknown if that is on tap now. Since the prices of gold entities have been under decades of price compression, share price can't go far without bullion. Decoupling is far off and would have to occur at much higher prices. Bullion is just bumping along a floor waiting for an excuse to rise. And as you note the shares are holding reasonably well. It sure isn't an exciting market and that's why you only put the usual percentage of your assets in it.
