Re: Organization of Thread

Hi Herman and all,

Just a couple of ideas on how you might get the basic "historic" info out in easier form for those who join the forum late...

You could just put together one post ( or someone else could do it for the thread) (I would if you like, given a couple of days)
as Greg was suggesting with all the links to the info you put out... (not too hard to find as I know on most you did put a Capitalized heading of the title of thread)
Then every now and then we could sort of re-post this "main points" page of links so that anyone who was new to the thread but didn't want to read thru all of it could easily link to your info. (Sort of like what Steve does providing a link to his strategy explanation when anyone asks something applicable)

Other idea is that you could make a huge text file or word file with all the info and e-mail it to all who request (might be big hassle)... unless you have a web site from where people could simply download it. If you went this route you could simply provide all the links at the site as well.. in a "table of contents" sort of form.

Last way to do it I can think of - I saw this done with another thread on SI I was watching for a time "Z Best Place to talk stocks". They had a discussion going on but were also trying to follow a "portfolio" which the thread set up... so they divided the postings... put the portfolio info on one thread (actual portfolio trades, etc..) and had all discussion limited to the other thread!

If you wanted to do this - you could start with a link page to all the important posting already on this thread...and then you could make all your future main postings on the new thread reserved just for that - while all the discussion went on over here!

However, all that said... I personally think a lot of the value in all of this has been in the exchange of ideas and the constant back and forth that goes on here...I know it gets "off topic" at times, but a lot is missed if one were simply to read your main posts...I'm sure you would be the first to agree!

It's not actually so bad that someone has to really "dig" through all of this... there probably would be a lot more learned in the process...and it prevents a lot of the same questions which have already been answered from being asked again and answered again. (Although I'll admit it is time consuming!!)

Easiest solution perhaps -
Everyone begin each message with the topic on the top line and nothing else -
like an "RE: Right time to sell calls?" sort of thing.
This would make it easy to just scroll through all the posts and only click on those with a topic or author in which you are interested.

Advice... in this light - might want to skip over all with my name as I tend to be quite wordy...

Sorry!
and Thanks for all and to all!

Maureen
