Post says stock falls on cash-flow concerns

United Keno Hill Mines Ltd UKH
Shares issued 10,296,280 Mar 11 close $0.60
Wed 12 Mar 97 In the News
The Financial Post reports in its Wednesday edition that word of a
cash-flow crunch and the loss of a senior executive sent shares of United
Keno Hill Mines tumbling more than 50 per-cent on Tuesday. Reporter David
Thomas says the slump came in the afternoon, after the Toronto Stock
Exchange halted trading in the morning to allow investors to digest the
news. The corporation is experiencing an acute cash-flow shortage,
according to chairman Stephen Powell. He says the company's major
shareholder has advised that it is currently not in a position to continue
to support the corporation financially. At the end of 1995, records show
that Dominion Mineral Resources and Sterling Frontier Properties of Canada
owned a 33 per-cent stake in United Keno. It is not known if that position
has changed. Mr Powell says the Toronto mining company will continue its
search for the $30 million it needs to put two Yukon silver-lead properties
at Elsa back into production.
