Just spoke with Catherine Hartsog at MXTR IR. Here is my understanding of what was said;
* the New 27.2GB DiamondMax 6800 Desktop Drive will be in volume production in June - confirms your reading that it will impact profits in the Sept quarter
* management is still comfortable with analysts estimates of .03/share EPS for June qtr and 11% gross margins
* Singapore facility doubles their capacity (to 10 million drives/qtr) and will be "fitted out" (utilized) as needed - based upon a total capacity of 10 million drives and analysts estimates of 6 million produced in 9/1999 and 6 to 7 million produced in 12/1999 capacity utilization at new plant could be approximately 10% in Sept qtr and 30% in Dec qtr. They currently have lines up and running in Singapore, but will only open up new ones as needed - to avoid inventory build-up.
* demand is strong however pricing has been poor. MXTR has been walking away from some unprofitable situations lately.
* Hyundai doesn't make public statements regarding their intentions with respect to MXTR shares, however their cost is between $14-13/ share and they did cash in a few shares earlier this year <G>. May not want to sell at a loss now. Lack of a Section 144 filing seems to support this.
