Oh, can find a garret my dear penni. Problem is that now it costs more to rent a damn garret than it does to rent a decent two bedroom apartment. And they don't seem to be taking credit cards. Mine anyway.

Actually I have heard that the most expensive garret in Paris is one that Hemingway had lived in for a spell. Aspiring writers seem to have a jones for staying there. Hugely exorbitant, several hundred dollars a night, and it's exactly what it was -- a dusty, drafty loft, down two flights to the toilet, probably with old armoires draped in sheets and who knows what all else.
