I had worked with Japanese colleagues in China before, on both long and short term projects. I find that while it is difficult to adjust preconceptions in these Japanese colleagues, but when one is able to do so, they generally take the newly accepted ideas to a higher level. The transformation is sometimes astonishing. I am hoping that Japan-on-line-IT-internet will prove to be one of those ideas similar to selling via vending machines (from tooth paste to underwear) in Japan. The bet is on 9984's ability to make a breakthrough in Japan. Should 9984 fail, I would not assign better prospects to anyonelse to succeed. So, 9984 is a bet on Internet in Japan/Asia. If one of the two regions come through, the 9984 shareholders will have arrived.
