Talked to a web-designer friend tonight.

Good guy, very talented. Been using Macs for five years, starting with a IIci.

Problem is, as long as I've known him, he's always been in deep credit card debt (Still paying off $7k for that IIci system -- ouch!)

Last week, he mentioned that his supervisor offered to upgrade his position from a quasi-freelance to a group leader -- along with a serious raise.

The catch is that the CEO insists on an NT-pure environment -- which was bending him seriously out of shape. On the other hand, he could really benefit from the enhanced scratch.

(I suggested he just take the job, and use part of the raise to just buy the CPU he wanted, but he said to company mindset wouldn't tolerate it.)

So I called today, and asked "How's Mr. NT!"

He said he had deferred giving them an answer and was looking for comparable offers from Mac-friendly houses.
