CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 12, 1997--

ChatCom products provide internet platforms for carrier's
customers worldwide
ChatCom Inc., (NASDAQ: CHAT) a leading manufacturer of
highly-managed, consolidated server systems, today booked an
additional order from another large US facilities-based carrier
company. ChatCom products will be used to provide internet services
to the carrier's commercial and residential clients. This recent
order is among a growing number of orders received by ChatCom from
some of the world's largest telephone companies. ChatCom's orders
from these telephone and carrier corporations are covered by
nondisclosure agreements, limiting ChatCom's ability to provide
further specifics.
Over the last twelve months, ChatCom has received initial orders
from several of the largest US carriers as well as several
facilities-based carriers outside the US. Cumulatively, these
carrier companies have purchased over US$2Million of ChatCom
products. Most of these companies plan to utilize ChatCom's
products as part of the internet service infrastructure for their
customers. Other companies are using ChatCom products for testing
and remote communications services.
"The demand for facilities-based carrier companies to provide
internet services is exploding," said Jim Mariner, President and CEO
of ChatCom. "In a time when providing efficient internet service to
customers is crucial to the telecommunications industry, it is
gratifying that we are being chosen by an increasing number of these
companies to supply their internet infrastructure. We anticipate that
the demand from this important customer segment will contribute
significantly to the company's revenues during the coming year."
ChatCom's ChatterBox(TM) Consolidated Server products can
contain over 20 fully functional, completely independent
Pentium(R)-class servers in a single highly managed enclosure. In
February 1997, ChatCom received the highly acclaimed "Best of Times"
award from LAN Times Magazine for the design of its flagship
product, the ChatterBox. Each ChatCom Server Module uses standard,
modular off-the-shelf computer technology in a front-loading,
rack-mounted card cage. The benefits of this architecture are
numerous, from minimized space requirements to significant
reductions of computer system administration and operating costs.
As a result, ChatCom's architecture offers unprecedented levels of
standards-based scaleability and adaptability to meet future demands
or changes in technology.
