I don't think it's a question of competition, in the sense that I perceive competition, anyway. It's just making sure you are heard and seen.
Selling your own books is not for you, I don't think. You should just write them. Or, I think, really, your short pieces. I think you should become some kind of stringer, and then get a column in a regional publication, and build on it.
You really could do it. Is there anything in the new collection that hasn't been published? Do you really need us to tell you the drill? Start sending it out. There are books for aspiring writers that list the requirements of various publications, and tell how to publish something in each of them. Regional may be the way to start, or niche (your present niche is women's mags, family orientation, right?) |
