I'm concerned by the very short term view being taken by the crowd regarding extended hours.

I feel this is the first step toward a real global market. When the hours are extended, the pressure will be on to allow trading in more issues from outside the "North American" area.

While trading in "American" issues will be the focus at first, I believe it will shift to a more general "It's 5:00 pm EST, shift to the Far East as focus. At 1:00 am EST it's time for Europe."

This already happens with the institutions. It will migrate to the small guys, technology being the equalizer. (Capability anyway. Can the little guy handle it generally. That's another question.)

Just an opinion,

Ira
