Voice Com update.
Don't know who is dense enough to still think TMSR is going to come out anywhere on this one, but...
Roger Wilco continues to roll - will hit 75,000 by tomorrow. This does not include Baldur's Gate Expansion pack shipments, which continues to sell briskly. On an amusing note, Resounding's booth was only a few booths away from Thrustmaster at E3, which would make it extremely difficult to sell an inferior product.
Novalogic got their F22 Lightning 3 product to the shelves last week, and in addition to the previously mentioned 120 voice built-in voice com technology, I was surprise to see for the $39.99 - 49.99 you get a microphone as well.
Red Storm entertainment (Tom Clancy's company) already had voice com technology in Rainbow Six, and will improve it for the inevitable sequel (their biggest hit yet).
A new entry is Valve, makers of the #1 hit Half Life. Apparently Team Fortress 2 was demoed at E3, and not only included voice com technology, but it *synched* your voice to your characters mouth. Pretty nifty. Unannounced whether it would include a microphone or not.
As far as TMSR? They only got mentioned for their joysticks. Despite Roger Wilco and BattleCom getting repeated mention by mags and sources, TMSR gets ignored. This should give a small hint to people. NO ONE CARES about Thrustmasters' wannnabe voice products...
So we continue to see that voice technology is an easily copied technology that will simply be included with games or gotten for free. Predicted by? oh, those evil shorters....
