Wade Cook Financial Corp. Takes a Stand Against Anonymous Internet Slander Through Federal Lawsuit

Nation's Leading Financial Educator to Sue Anonymous Yahoo! Users For Defamation

SEATTLE, March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Wade Cook Financial Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: WADE) announced today that attorneys for the company have filed suit in United States District Court against "John Doe #1-10," unknown users of Yahoo! Inc. for defaming the company.

"These John Does are using the anonymity afforded by the Internet to damage the reputation and undermine the business of a legitimate company," said Paul Anderson, partner in the law firm of Anderson Godwin De Regt LLP. "What makes this 'virtual attack' even more egregious is the fact that these falsehoods are posted on Yahoo! message boards for millions of people to read and they cannot be removed from the Internet by the company."

The emerging practice of anonymous Internet slander is fast becoming one of the greatest threats to companies and industries throughout the nation. Through this lawsuit, Wade Cook Financial Corp. is hoping to receive a judgment against "John Doe #1-10," as well as help to extinguish the practice of Internet slander in general.

The suit claims that the information published by these anonymous individuals negatively impacts the integrity of Wade Cook Financial Corp. and its chairman and discredits their business methods. The suit also contends that the published transmissions negatively affect public confidence in the company and could potentially drive away customers and shareholders.

"We believe that our course of action is the only way to stop these individuals from hiding behind a computer screen and filling cyberspace with lies as big as the Internet itself," said Kiman Lucas, general counsel for Wade Cook Financial Corporation. "Wade Cook Financial Corp. believes it has an obligation to its customers, shareholders and the community in general to do whatever it can to stop such malicious activity."

Wade Cook Financial Corp. is seeking an injunction that would require the defendants to remove all of the published attacks as well as prohibit the individuals from any future publication of false information about the company.

Wade Cook Financial Corporation is one of America's leading financial education seminar and publishing companies. Wade Cook Financial Corporation provides hundreds of financial education seminars each month, and through its subsidiary, Lighthouse Publishing, publishes dozens of financial investment and real estate investment education books.
