I am 20 minutes outside of the Beltway, but it is little comfort, since there are a couple of significant naval installations nearby. I was a baby for Hazel, but in my time, we have had a handful of hurricane scares that never amounted to much. Anyway, I said standard hurricane route...I was in San Francisco about 11 years ago, and decided, since my stay was brief, to take a tour bus. The bus driver got quite a few yucks out of teasing us about the fact that "The Big One" was statistically overdue, as we road across the Oakland Bridge. Of course, about a year later "The Big One" hit, the St. Francis district was practically wiped out, and the Oakland Bridge was turned into scrap iron. Ho-ho-ho.....
