From the Clean Cities Conference referenced in EV World:

As for the other OEMs, GM has an EV1 available for the Ride & Drive
session
tomorrow. As for when the new NiMH EV1s will make their appearance,
GM's
Dick Thompson = says "soon." The hold up, according to Dave
Ouwerkirk, is
certification testing of the GenII drive train. There are three
separate
components (motor, controller, and integration with NiMH battery pack)
all
of which must be production certified before the vehicle is released
to
consumers.
