The following is a quote from the conventional press for once lauding the benefits of hybrid technology. They missed better range, gas mileage and climbing ability, but what do you expect from the unwashed anyway? Southam AutoVision Group "Electric cars offer military stealth. Defence contractors are climbing on the electric car bandwagon. Not only are these vehicles less polluting, they also offer stealth possibilities. Colorado based Unique Mobility has delivered electric propulsion system components to Technion, the Israel Institute of technology as part of its development and installation of a hybrid-electric powertrain system in a heavy tracked vehicle. The Hybrid electric propulsion system consists of two waterproof traction motors rated at 75 kw each and a similarly sized generator unit rated at up to 100 kw output ( 1,000 100 watt bulbs ). Hybrid electric vehicles powered by a combination of electric motors and conventional diesel or gasoline engines have more range than electric only vehicles. But more importantly the vehicle can be operated quietly in all electric mode while giving off a low heat signature.which makes it virtually impossible to detect using infrared sensor technology."
