08:18am EDT 25-May-99 J.P. Morgan (ARCHIBOLD, R. CKFR

...CheckFree and Intuit (INTU/$/Market Performer) announced yesterday they have amicably resolved the issues that had led to the filing and of a lawsuit in March, and to the subsequent arbitration. The outcome affirms our belief the lawsuit would have no material long-term impact on CheckFree's business and the announcement of the settlement puts to rest any concerns of a potential negative outcome. We also believe the
settlement clears the way for CheckFree to pursue other Internet
distribution arrangements which we would expect to be announced within the next several months. We reiterate our Buy rating and $80 price target on CKFR shares as the company continues to extend its leadership position and momentum continues to build in the market for electronic bill presentment and payment. ...

Checkfree Holdings - Checkfree And Intuit Reach Settlement

...* Settlement a Positive, Maintain BUY
Today's announcement obviates the threat of any litigation that might adversely affect CheckFree's dominant share of the electronic bill payment market going forward. We still expect the company's subscriber growth to accelerate over the next 18 months from the most recent quarter's 6% sequential level. We are estimating 3.03 million subscribers by the end of the June 1999 quarter, up 6.4% over fiscal 1998. For fiscal 2000, we are estimating 4.38 million subscribers, up 44.3% over fiscal 1999.

We maintain our Buy recommendation with a $70 price target.
