Industri-Matematik Launches New E-Commerce Fulfillment and Customer Service Suite

MARLTON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 25, 1999--

New Software Targets Zero Inventory and 100 Percent Visibility for

Pull-Driven Supply Chains

Industri-Matematik International Corp. (www.im.se) (NASDAQ:IMIC) today launched Vivaldi, a suite of global fulfillment and customer service software for e-commerce. Vivaldi delivers high-powered applications specifically designed to handle the complex pull-driven supply chains and rigorous demands for customer responsiveness found in the e-commerce economy.

"The e-commerce challenge isn't Internet order-taking, it is fulfillment and customer service. That's the difference between winning and losing customers and profit or loss," said Stig Durlow, president and CEO at Industri-Matematik, a supply chain management software company. "The Internet puts an incredible amount of information and power in the hands of an already demanding customer. The result is a need for greater speed and responsiveness, more product variety, increased fulfillment complexity, and more trading partner collaboration. Going forward, e-commerce will set the back-end fulfillment and service performance benchmarks for all supply chain operations. It will create tremendous opportunities and threats, and force companies to reconsider how they do business. Those that don't adjust will lose."

"Our software has been built for pull-driven supply chain environments. Vivaldi takes these capabilities to the next level to provide powerful fulfillment and customer service solutions for e-commerce," said Durlow.

The new Vivaldi suite accelerates a company's transition to a pull-driven supply chain model by replacing inventory with information, or what Durlow calls Zero Inventory/100 Percent Visibility. This approach enables companies to move from buy/hold/sell models to more agile sell/source/ship models that speed the movement of goods through the supply chain.

"Robust and integrated fulfillment is important to profitable e-business," said Christer Wadman, analyst at Benchmarking Partners. "E-business introduces rigorous enterprise challenges, including high order volumes and increasingly complex supply chain networks, challenges that play into Industri-Matematik's sweet spot."

According to Louise Smith, vice president at Skyway Systems, an Industri-Matematik customer, "The emerging e-commerce model presents companies with numerous challenges and more demanding customers who expect quality fulfillment services delivered in 'Internet time.' With its Vivaldi suite, Industri-Matematik extends its leadership position in enabling organizations to effectively manage complex, changing supply networks."

The Vivaldi suite utilizes Industri-Matematik's enterprise messaging and integration capabilities to foster greater coordination between trading partners. This enhanced coordination increases speed in the supply chain by enabling 100 percent real-time visibility of inventory availability, pricing, fulfillment costs and preferences on the basis of individual order lines, products and customers. Vivaldi software enables companies to significantly reduce inventories while delivering products more quickly, improving customer service and increasing revenues and profitability.

Vivaldi includes several advanced capabilities including:

-- Full-Circle Customer Management - software capabilities that deliver total visibility of the customer relationship and all customer transactions through a single customer database;

-- Fulfillment Coordination - sophisticated application logic that uses intelligent messaging tools to coordinate, monitor and measure the physical movement of goods across the supply chain;

-- Complex Logistics Engine - a framework that masters complex logistics requirements by leveraging customer preferences across the supply chain - the key to profitably executing on customer demands; and

-- E-Power Acceleration - a high performance order and fulfillment engine for the information-rich, high transaction volumes and 7 x 24 computing found in e-commerce environments.

Industri-Matematik will be releasing industry-specific solution sets of the suite for those businesses moving rapidly to e-commerce, targeting wholesale, retail, third party logistics and manufacturing distribution companies. Six Industri-Matematik customers are already implementing major components of the Vivaldi suite and will use them to support their e-commerce business initiatives. The Vivaldi components integrate easily with existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems as well as provide a complete fulfillment and customer service system for companies looking to replace legacy applications.
