Gottfried. Over a longer time frame you are correct. I have no doubt about that. My investment style long on the semi-equipment stocks, covered call when the stock spikes up for no significant reason and individual options.

Basically I look at where a stock has been the past three months and what events could move it in either direction in the next three months.

For stocks like KLIC, which are nicely volatile the following events will affect the day to day price. 1) A good forward looking statement in the earnings report. 2) an upgrade by a respected analyst 3) A large order announcement 4) End of the month trading (last two days) and the first four trading days of the month 5)A BTB much stronger than expected

I believe that we both agree that KLIC is heading much higher long term. But my objectives are to profit from KLIC on a month to month basis.

The problem I have with long term charts is that if a stock is trading at 60 and suddenly in two days time you are looking at 50, a two year chart will confirm that your cost basis was 22, and you still feel snug and content and smart because you bought it at 22. But in reality you are not having a good month and if the problem is ignored it will not go away.

I like your charts because they add perspective to my judgments. Hopefully we both prosper using different techniques.
