Partly OT == part of golf discussion

Interesting! I have the impression, too, that golf is still big -- friends who come up here to visit frequently bring their clubs (I don't play), my son (college sophomore) started a year or so ago, and his only complaint is how crowded the courses are, and I see ads for houses on the golf course everywhere. Big hotel proposed on golf course next island over. Etc.

I was going to support the golf boom point by pointing out how well golf stocks are doing. But in fact, in the past year many of them have dropped significantly. I was at one point looking at Callaway (ELY), which was way off its high and is still languishing. Then I did a Yahoo symbol search on golf and found about 25 companies with golf in their names and looked at a few and all were down over the past 12 months or so.

Wonder what that really means. Wonder how golf ball sales are going -- I would think that woule be a fairly accurate indicator of the current popularity of the game. Wonder whether there's any site on the web that tracks golf ball sales.
