Will the size of your facilities limit your ability to accept and fulfill large orders?
As late as May 1998, DCH occupied approximately 1,000 square feet in a small office building in Sherman Oaks, California and employed four consultants along with the company officers. One year later, we occupy approximately 10,000 square feet at our sites, have 16 full time employees, 3 part time and 5 consultants. Based on interest from current and potential customers, we fully expect DCH to grow in the coming months and years.
DCH performs the calibration, test and final assembly of its sensor products at the California facilities (located in Valencia, approximately 40 miles north of downtown Los Angeles). Other manufacturing (such as board assembly, machining, product packaging, etc.) is subcontracted out to specialty houses. Our capacity today is more than sufficient for all anticipated orders. However, if an order comes in that we cannot handle, much of what we do (in particular, final assembly and test) can also be easily subcontracted out to facilities within the same industrial park.
DCH has expanded its fuel cell facility as well to prepare for production, beginning possibly in late 1999. The fuel cell facility is located near Madison, Wisconsin.
