Morgan, Could the problems people have in getting fills also be related to the number of shares sold. If you go over 1000 shares on some stocks, my understanding is that you no longer get automatic execution---which is almost instantaneous. If I am about to bail out of a stock, i usually send several small orders (rapid fire style) so that I don't go over the auto threshold in any one order. I think for MSFT it is 1000 shares but the brokers can find out to be sure. It may vary with the stock.
