Peepster,

I was not very clear in my note. OWNING the licensing is preferred(you are correct, not actually owning the movie). Actually, licensing rights cover time period, geography(markets) and media(home video, cable...), well they did when I was involved in this process years ago. Showtime prefers to own the rights to these shows rather than pay licensing fees to the producers. What Viacom used to do was acquire the rights from the producers of various shows and then sell the rights to various networks(middleman). I guess it was not very lucrative so instead they keep firing off a bunch of their own networks("Nick at Nite") and airing the shows of which they own the rights. When they purchased Paramount, they got the rights to tons of shows/movies.

Anyway, we have no network to "air" our shows and it sounds like the companies we would sell the rights to our shows would prefer to own the rights permanently. If I remember correctly, Muller's bottom line has been declining so I think we should take anything we can get(maybe Showtime will be a good buyer) as it seems cash is king right now to make sure "series F's" don't hit the street, so we can install switches....

Just something to talk about instead of lamenting being a pinksheeter....
