oh, thx. here's part 1 of a summary by a yahoo poster on the Courter's presentation at the CTI Expo today:
Hawaii, I Sat Next to Courter by: mrpcap1 (55/M/Rockville, Maryland) 73370 of 73492 at the CTI Expo while he listened to Peter Alexander from Cisco give his presentation. Courter then gave a very smooth presentation of IDT's strategic vision. I'll provide highlights of Courter's speech below, but first want to inform Hawaii that I had a five minute chat with Courter after his speech in which I passed on your best wishes. Courter smiled and said that he knew you very well, although sometimes you scared him because you seemed to know more about IDT than Courter himself! I then probed him a bit about IDT's future, but he couldn't provide any specifics except to confirm that IDT is discussing strategic relationships with a number of companies, including @Home.
Now for the hightlights of his speech:
- VOIP is experiencing "exponential" growth. NTOP was in on the ground floor of VOIP, starting about 2 1/2 years ago, and is well positioned to participate in future growth through its web of strategic parternships.
- Change to VOIP (from PSTN) will be "very rapid," helped by its current unregulated status, which should continue.
- VOIP will make possible the use of "enhanced services," such as real time voice translations, that VOIP can offer. Current Telco systems cannot offer these enhanced services.
- IDT's recent announcement of the NTOP IPO demonstrated the confidenc of major investors in VOIP's future. He specifically noted the investment in NTOP of Softbank (10.8%), AOL (5.4%) and GE Capital (5.4%).
- "The money's in the minutes," and are reflected in NTOP's skyrocketing revenues, which are being translated directly into IDT's bottom line profits. (Courter showed a chart which showed that NTOP's VOIP transmission costs were about 1/4 those of AT&T and MCI/Worldcom and 1/2 those of DeltaThree.)
