Dear Threaders,
I believe that the best way to think about our Company is 3 + 1: Three distinct business areas (with a well-thought-out business plan for each), plus the internet site, with its own plan.
1. BioFIT - The original idea was merely to have R.P. Scherer HerbGels Certified as BioFIT - that's all. As now conceived, the initiative is vastly greater. First, Paracelsian will certify the end (consumer) products of other manufacturers as BioFIT. Second, Paracelsian will certify "stuff" other than end products as BioFIT. It will, for example, test raw herbal products BEFORE they are turned into HerbGels (or the consumer products of other manufacturers). This is a good idea for manufacturers; it is a waste for them to process stuff if it is not biologically active, if their consumer product wouldn't pass BioFIT Certification. And this is good for Paracelsian: more testing to do (for $), and less reliance on Scherer. Third, a much wider range of products will be subject to scientific scrutiny, and - if active - BioFIT Certification: for example, herbal teas. So it's not just Scherer-manufactured products that we can expect to see this fall, and its not just pills, and BioFIT Certification will be performed on raw materials. Bernie did discuss the "cycle" of natural products at some length: innovations displayed at conventions in mid- and late summer, followed by "orders" from manufacturers, to appear on the shelves in time for the fall/winter cold and flu season. Bernie believes that our timing is perfect. |
