Heard from a Big 5 today that IBM is making a play to buy SEBL.

Why would IBM form Centerpoint, a wholly-owned subsidiary with an independent board built around its acquisition of Software Artistry, only to months later attempt to buy Siebel? And do you really think Thomas Siebel would want to be controlled by Lou Gestner or anyone?

If that's a rumor flying around, my guess is that it's propogated by people wanting to artificially move the stock price.
