VTEL CORP said it reached a settlement of litigation between
Philips Electronics North America Corp. and VTEL's Compression
Labs unit that would cost it less than $900,000. Philips sued
Compression Labs in Nov. 1998, asserting damages of over $4 mln,
VTEL said. The suit claimed money due from a joint development
agreement reached between Philips North America, a unit of Dutch
electronics giant ROYAL PHILIPS ELECTRONICS N.V., and the
broadcast division of Compression Labs. (Reuters 12:16 PM ET
