Verity delivers SEARCH'97 platform to the Chinese university and educational systems; Sino-Software Systems and
Verity team up to deliver Chinese version of SEARCH'97 platform to the Chinese marketplace

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 12, 1997--Verity Inc., (NASDAQ:VRTY), a leading provider of search and retrieval applications for the
enterprise and Internet/Intranet, and Sino-Software Systems Co. Ltd., today announced that the two companies will collaborate to bring SEARCH'97 to the
Chinese market.
Sino-Software plans to localize SEARCH'97 Developer's Kit and SEARCH'97 Information Server for the simplified-Chinese language on NT and Unix platforms.
The localized versions of the Verity products will be distributed by Sino-Software through their network of commercial distributors and VARs. As an indication of
Verity's commitment to the Chinese market, Verity intends to make SEARCH'97 Information Server available, at no charge, to the Chinese university and
educational systems and will subsequently offer SEARCH'97 Personal to Chinese students at a special student price.
