We had a bit of a dry spell, followed by a couple of days of monsoons, and the azaleas around here look quite bedraggled. Irises, too, are tattered. But the rhodies, which are now coming in, look good. Nothing like Gaugie's, of course.
This place isn't really all that great for flowers once that magical spring burst has past. It's the green that I really love. Sky blue with goldenwhite clouds, and the sun bright overhead, and the curtain of green lit through with sunlight. Air in the morning and evening soft and cool, even at midday it's not humid, and the breezes keep things fresh.
The honeysuckle and Confederate jasmine are blooming, they don't look like much but the fragrance is hypnotic.
And that's what I like. |
