Hi Margaret/All,
Hope everything is well with you!! It has been crazy here, at work and home. Sorry I haven't given my report yet. :-( I'll give a little here. Tony has posted an excellent 'business' version of the meeting on the main thread. I'll give you the vacation version. <gg>
I keep leaving my notes in the car and I think everyone should you listen to the presentation @ www.intc.com. It is very en-lightening!! Here I sit with my IBM pad-folio taking notes and couldn't help but think, is this Intel or IBM's meeting. Intel is getting their fingers into everything that has anything to do with the internet. And I mean everything!! Hey, no complaints from me or the other stock holders I spoke with. I spoke with a very nice man and his son before the meeting while I was waiting for the SI'ers to arrive. He had been in INTC for about 15 years and we both commented on why do mutual funds, just buy Intel.
I thought of all of you as the trip when on. I sat next to a lady on the plane to Denver that had just closed her antique shop here in Lincoln. She did 'older' antiques, they would go back east and get them. Guess who I was thinking of. <BG> I figured that was a decent omen, then her husband said he had been born and raised in San Jose. Ok, Well now I'm thinking everything will be alright!! For those of you who don't PM with me I was a bit nervous about this trip for many reasons. He also told me he would never move back, I understand why now. <gg> Wonderful place to visit but I don't think they could pay me enough to live there, ok maybe about 10 mill a year. <gg>
I went to Frankies to meet everyone for dinner. I was the first to arrive and went to have a drink while I waited. This very nice YOUNG waiter (Italian) helped me out on my selection of Italian beer. Hey, while in Rome, right. <gg> Then A friend of Sonki's came and we talked while waiting for the rest to arrive. He is very nice and just starting out in investing, but with sonki as a guide he will do very well. John and His wife arrived and we went to our table. We had an excellent visit and I know I felt very comfortable with everyone. Just like we had know each other for years. Oh, wait a minute we have been talking to each other for a few.
On Wednesday I went to Intel headquarters and saw the museum. It was under construction and so what they had was very small. They wouldn't let me into the gift shop either. I had to have an employee escort me. Well If I would have had a computer I could have probably been able to find one. I just decided oh well, I guess I'll just have to come back some time.
I mulled around the meeting while I was waiting for everyone to arrive. Tony found me, and he and his wife held us some chairs up front. Tony introduced me to Carl and his wife. For those of you who don't know Carl he was educated in Iowa so we have a little in common. I waited for John and his wife to arrive and then we took our seats. The meeting was very good and of course now I want even more INTC stock. They could of however left out the Amazon, Barnes and Nobel + Ingram slide when talking about the internet. <gg> Guess Who I thought of then. I also have an Ingram EDI interface on my desk I am working on too.
After the meeting we all meet the other SI'ers. I contemplated going and talking to Andy Grove but what was I going to say??!! Not that I was intimidated or anything but I didn't exactly need his autograph.
We went to lunch at a very nice Italian restaurant. I meet a few more people from the main thread. We had a very nice time. I forgot the camera but Carl has a picture of me. He was BS'ing some one and I got his attention and asked him flat out "Carl are you a BS'er or what??!!" Then next thing I know, He's behind me with his wife having someone take our picture. I guess I made an impression on him. LOL!!! Next time we need to wear name tags or something because Tony swears Musea was there but his wife and I disagree. At least at lunch we didn't see him.
After lunch, my car battery was dead. Pilot error, long story short I left the dome light on all night. In my car it turns off automatically after 1min. Got that going and then headed off on my tour of San Francisco with Tony and his wife. It was great I just wish I would have had more time to spend there. There's always next time.
Then Thursday, last day, I was going to get out of the hotel buy 6am. UHH HUHH, I left at 8. I went to try to find the ocean but instead I got my mountain fix. I went to Santa Cruz. It was a beautiful drive and nice little town. Then I went back to San Jose and caught my plane. Had to think of Sonny again when I got into Denver and saw Air Force one was there. At first it didn't dawn on my why it was there then I realized it was because of Columbine.
Then I finally got back to Nebraska and of course it was raining cats and dogs. Oh well didn't bother me I was home. It's just about as lush here as it was in California. I will say though I was glad I got the opportunity to go to that part of California. That was only the 2nd time I had been there and the Los Angeles area is not all that impressive (at least to me).
Thanks to everyone who made my trip a very enjoyable one!! It was awesome to meet the people from the thread and of course we were not anything like we had expected but it didn't matter.
Have A great day!!
Take Care!!
Ann
P.S. We did make the stock go up that day but will not take responsibility for the Tech Wreck that followed. <GGG>!!! |
