Jack, that new guide gun shoots like a dream, a real pussycat with the comp and recoil pad. The perceived recoil is half my 10lb .308! I now see why that Marlin guide gun .45/70 won gun of the year last year. If you want something to knock your teeth loose, Ruger has a new .454 Casull Super Redhawk. The energy of the Casull is close to the low end .45/70. Guns & Ammo gave it a very good review in their July issue which just came out. The reviewers liked it very much and it should become a popular hunting choice in big bear country. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hollywood use it for an updated Dirty Harry movie. I suspect it will sell like hot cakes, even "he-men" wannabes that will never shoot it will want one for their collection. Ruger sure doesn't stand still.
