Data Translation's Broadway to offer VDOnet's Software
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 12, 1997--Spring Internet World '97 Booth no. 6028, LA Convention Center--
Broadway Will Bundle VDOLive Software In A Complete,
Easy-To-Use Solution For Creating And Delivering
Streaming Internet Video
Data Translation Inc today announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with VDOnet Corp. to include trial versions of VDOLive software with the Broadway video system. This agreement will provide Broadway users with a complete creation and delivery solution for streaming Internet video for under $1,000 (USD). Data Translation has also agreed to resell a full version of VDOLive with additional streaming capabilities. Following the announcement of this strategic alliance here today at Spring Internet World '97, Data Translation began demonstrations at their booth of Broadway-created video streamed in real time with VDOLive software.
Broadway is Data Translation's award-winning, easy-to-use MPEG video creation solution for adding full-motion video on web sites and in presentations and computer-based training. By bundling VDOnet's technology, Broadway delivers the capabilities for web site authors to produce full-motion, streamable video at an affordable price point of $995 (suggested US list). Broadway bundled with VDOLive gives users the added flexibility to create both streaming video for real-time Internet or corporate intranet viewing. This combination of options affords web clients the luxury of previewing video clips in real time via streaming technology. After this real-time preview, web clients can then decide if they want the full file of VHS-quality video, then actually download that file for more detailed viewing and local storage.
"We are pleased to have the opportunity to combine the award-winning products of both companies into a solution that makes web video easy," said Fred Molinari, president of Data Translation. "Leveraging VDOnet's expertise in video for networks with the Broadway video system will continue to propel Data Translation's leadership position in the Internet video revolution. This alliance underscores Broadway's commitment to supporting the burgeoning multimedia delivery methods for the web as well as a demonstration of our active role in fostering the convergence of video, voice, and data on the Internet."
"VDOnet is commited to enabling producers to easily offer video content on the Web," said Asaf Mohr, chairman of VDOnet. "Partnerships with companies like Data Translation are an important part of this strategy."
The Broadway/VDOnet bundle will also include a trial VDOnet server for offering streamed video on demand over the Internet, which will allow limited streaming capabilities. Users will be given an upgrade path for adding more VDOLive server functionality at an additional cost. Broadway will be available bundled with the trial version of VDOLive for no additional cost beginning in the third quarter of 1997.
