Cisco & IBM use PowerPC Routers , IBM adds interactive streaming
On routers "ain't what you got but how you use it", as IBM's are 1/3rd faster giving it an edge in eCommerce traffic.
IBM found a "interactive" streaming protocol to aim at its training applications: biz.yahoo.com
" StreamMakerâ„¢ is 7th Street.com's patent pending technology, which uniquely enables the creation of full screen, fully- synchronized interactive multimedia, delivering graphics, animation, text, audio, and video over the Internet and corporate Intranets. Our development platform will create the interactive, full screen multimedia that can set you apart from the competition and enable you to distribute to a virtually untapped market...." ---- 7thstreet.com
But upon further look this type of processing could easily be the "Sears Catalog" of the 21st century: ---- " ... Our intelligent agent technology can be used to create animated interactive characters, based on new or existing personalities or properties, in order to add "live" personality to web sites and presentations. 7th Street.com's agents are easy to create by simply recording a voice track; they are "smart" and "intelligent", capable of automated gesturing and behaviors. Characters can be updated, reused and re-purposed on the fly by simply changing voice tracks. Our agent technology is compatible with Internet Explorer 3.x or 4.x, and Netscape Navigator 3.x or 4.x. Character interaction is controlled through JavaScript and/or VBScript.
7th Street.com's intelligent agents can be floated over the desktop or browser, downloaded from a web site or used as a voice activated desktop agent "favorites" guide, using keyboard and mouse to launch a browser directly into a particular web page. Additional applications include the creation of desktop agents which stream daily or weekly updated information from their web sites directly to your desktop with a "click through" to featured areas. " ------ Question remains about the streaming quality and speed .
