Secures Sales in Excess of $4.5 Million During Cannes Film Festival LOS ANGELES (May 26) ENTERTAINMENT WIRE -May 26, 1999-- Company Acquires Rights to "They Never Came Home" by "I Know What You Did Last Summer" Author 1st Miracle Group, Inc. (OTC BB: MVEE) today announced that it has secured foreign sales in excess of $4.5 million during the 1999 Cannes Film Festival. Leading the sales effort was "Held for Ransom" with $1.6 million, followed closely by "After Sex" with $1.2 million in pre-sales. "Speedway Junky" also generated sales of $1 million, while "Escape to Grizzly Mountain" netted $800,000. Based on the book "Ransom" by Lois Duncan, author of "I Know What You Did Last Summer," "Held for Ransom" is a teen thriller about five high school teens kidnapped from a school bus and the drama that subsequently ensues. The Company also announced today that it has secured the rights to "They Never Came Home," another popular thriller by Ms. Duncan. "They Never Came Home" is the story of two teenage boys, Dan and Larry, who mysteriously vanish while on a camping trip. Soon Joan, Larry's sister, is contacted by a stranger who says her brother owes him a lot of money. Can Joan find them or are the two destined never to return? The film, scheduled to begin pre-production in January, will be produced by Randall Emmett and George Furla, whose previous First Miracle productions include "Speedway Junky," starring Daryl Hannah and Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and "I'm Over Here," starring Andrew "Dice" Clay; as well as "Escape to Grizzly Mountain," starring Dan Haggerty, and "After Sex," starring Brooke Shields, Johnathan Schaech, DB Sweeney and Dan Cortese. Tony Cataldo, CEO of First Miracle, stated, "We are extremely pleased by the tremendous reception we received during the Cannes film festival, including significant pre-sales for our latest two projects, "After Sex" and "Held for Ransom." More encouraging is the fact that the sales for "Speedway Junky" represent only 38 percent of the total foreign territories, while "Held for Ransom" and "After Sex" are approximately 50 percent, and we anticipate securing additional markets during the next several months, including solidifying domestic theatrical, cable and television deals for these projects. "We are also delighted to have this opportunity to work with Ms. Duncan on another major film project. We believe that both "They Never Came Home" and "Held for Ransom" hold the same appeal as her highly successful "I Know What You Did Last Summer" series, and are currently looking to solidify several well known stars for the principle roles." First Miracle is an independent film production company focused on the development of full-length features in a number of popular genres, including comedy, action and drama. -0- de/ny jp CONTACT: Rubenstein Public Relations Clint Cantwell 212/843-8051 KEYWORD: CALIFORNIA INDUSTRY KEYWORD: ENTERTAINMENT PRODUCT Today's News On The Net - Business Wire's full file on the Internet with Hyperlinks to your home page.
