Ok Mikey, let me see if I can swing at that meatball without the help of our technical heavy hitters.

First, the Surfette's phone is that little clam-shell thingie
Yup. Got that. But they come in two flavors;
-Q1900 which is single mode cdma 1900 MHz (often referred to as 'PCS') qualcomm.com
-Q800 which is dual mode 800 MHz cdma and 800 MHz analog qualcomm.com

Plus I called her with my trusty dual band dual mode all world 2700 yesterday and got through to a wireline in wherever the hell one hour out of Philly is with crystal clarity...
Yup. And if she was sitting in SvenBaby's office at Ericsson's HQ in the heart of GSM Sweden she could receive your call to Sven's wireline too.

For sure, we're on the Sprint network and hers works in SF so it works with Sprint...
As far as I know, SprintPCS is all 1900 Band nationwide. So I assume she has a Q1900, not a Q800, unless she runs around SF on analog all the time, which would make little sense.

So how come I can call THERE but she can't call HERE?
For the same reason my Q1900 didn't work last week 40 miles outside of Ocala, FL - No SprintPCS 1900 band signal available.

Now that the technical stuff is dispatched, there's two important questions.
-Just how good is your pool game?
-Did you ask her to bring you a cheesesteak (with sauce and onions)?
:{0)
Best regards,
Jim [who lived on cheesesteaks for a time, some of which may have been funded through the local pool hall]
