MRV's current strategies are adequate for the current way the Net is being used, but in the future the interactive demands on the Net will far exceed everything currently being designed. The only realistic solution is Medin's local redundancy model implemented with Pure to the desktop/STB. This requires switches and servers heavily concentrated at headends. Headends themselves are the first of a two order hierarchy of a similar redundancy modelling within say, a metro ring. The add/drop complexity of the two order redundancy model rises much faster with a colored model in comparison to an SR model.
