I thought Iridium needed lawyers, bankers and marketers. What are they doing with engineers. I thought the system was working perfectly at the moment. Is their some secret plan to make them stay in their orbit longer? Allow for internet access (doubt it)? Maybe figure out a way to keep the darn thing working long enough to allow them to pull out their investment? It just seems funny that with all thier talk over the past few months about marketing and distribution problems, they are recalling hundereds of engineers to the project.

Iridium's next generation (if they were stupid enough to build one) would likely be in a different orbit (higher). It also would employ laser intersatellite links over their current technology. Anybody have any ideas on what these engineers are doing rather than planning Teledesic? I guess as the motto says "save yourself before you try to save the world" (Iridium World Communications that is) as Motorola is certainly more concerned with their exposure here than saving anyone elses interest.
