Schrock Appoints Three New Executives, Securing AltaVista Leadership
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 26, 1999-- AltaVista, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ - news), today announced the addition of three new executives to its organization, securing AltaVista's senior management team and its leadership into the next century.
AltaVista President & CEO Rod Schrock appointed Ross Levinsohn, Vice President and General Manager of New Media; Charles Rashall, Vice President, Sales and Marketing; and Mark Delfino, Vice President, Information Management and Operations. The new executives bring a breadth of relevant industry-wide experience to AltaVista.

Ross Levinsohn joins AltaVista as Vice President and General Manager of New Media. Levinsohn will be responsible for the development of content and programming for AltaVista, Zip2, and Shopping.com.
Prior to AltaVista, Levinsohn served as Vice President of Programming/Executive Producer at CBS Sportsline, where he managed and developed all content programming elements for the popular Internet site, encompassing more than 400,000 pages of content and produced sports for AOL, Netscape and Excite. Prior to joining CBS Sportsline, he served as Director of Production Enterprises at Home Box Office.
As Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Charles Rashall will be responsible for continuing to manage and grow record advertising sales revenues across the AltaVista network. Further, Rashall is charged with all marketing and brand management activities across all audience touch-points, including Internet user experience, advertising, public relations, direct marketing, events, and sponsorships.
Rashall joins AltaVista after serving as Partner/Chief Brand Strategist at USWeb/CKS in New York, where he managed the development and implementation of integrated branding programs for a series of industry leading traditional and Internet clients. Prior to CKS, Rashall served as Executive Director for Landor Associates where he led major global identity programs for clients including FedEx, Lucent Technologies, Looney Tunes, and DuPont.
Mark Delfino joins AltaVista as Vice President of Operations and Information Management. Delfino is responsible for building the operational and technical infrastructure that will support AltaVista's growth and customer objectives within and across the AltaVista network.
Before joining AltaVista, Delfino served as Vice President and Director for The Boston Consulting Group (BCG). While at BCG, Delfino helped build BCG's Operations, Information Technology and E-commerce practices. During his tenure at BCG, Delfino developed and implemented business, operating and information technology plans for Fortune 500 corporations, with focus in the telecommunications, high tech, retailing, consumer goods and pharmaceuticals industries.
