Trippy,

Talking about Sony, there was an interesting article here in London in the Guardian on Saturday regarding a new games console that Sony is "keeping under lock and key in a bank vault" (reporter's hyperbole :->>) and that will not be available until the autumn of 2000. The reporter went on to describe the 2 chips (CPU and graphics controller) as 128k cache chips "each faster than a Pentium III" and which Sony predicted will deliver graphics the like of which has not been seen before.

What was really the interesting thing that made my eyes lit up, was not the above, but that Sony's apparent intent is nothing less than moving the games console firmly in between TV and settop boxes (internet access and .....e-commerce apparently firmly on the agenda) The prediction by Sony was that faced by the choice between a $200-500 all singing all dancing games console and a $500-1000 PC, they were betting the games console will win out.

I will try to see if I can get the article online

Meanwhile, recalling that our resident crystal ball watcher, a certain Mr Miles, has breathed the word "Sony" rather mysteriously in previous seances, I suggest a posse be sent to his house for the party tonight, and JPEG evidence of extracted toenails be submitted as proof that he really does know "nootheeeng" of any Wave involvement with Sony. Sela

Ciao

Paul
