- Chile, Coiron Property, Three Economic Targets Established
Rock Resources Inc. President, Tom Kennedy, stated "1999 will be a banner year for Rock Resources given the well-evidenced World-Class Discovery potential of our main economic target in Chile."
1 - MAIN TARGET - Mount Tacho Hydrothermal System
John Ostler, M.Sc., P.Geo., Rock Resourcess Independent Consulting Geologist, in his March 31, 1999 report states in part as follows: ".....The Mount Tacho hydrothermal system on the Coirn Property closely resembles Sillitoe's (1993) type-description of a gold-rich porphyry copper deposit. It conforms to all five of the geological attributes that are almost required in the model, those relating to coeval volcanics, alteration, magnetite-hematite deposition and stockwork vein development. Also, it can be classified within a significant category with regard to the four attributes they vary significantly among the 29 porphyry deposits that were studied by Sillitoe, those relating to: age, geological setting and chemistry of the host intrusion..... .....Geological mapping, geochemical sampling, preliminary drilling and geophysical surveys conducted over the Mount Tacho hydrothermal system all contribute to the conclusion that this system could host a substantial gold-rich porphyry copper deposit. The shape of the system on surface, its alteration pattern and geophysical signature indicate that bodies of economic mineralization could occur anywhere around the margin of the hydrothermal implosion breccia..... .....I recommend that this target be given the highest exploration priority and that a program of extensive drilling be conducted over the whole Mount Tacho hydrothermal system....."
2 - SECOND TARGET - Cerro Carmen
In January 1998 during construction of the 28 km road to access the main target area a new showing of copper, gold and silver mineralization was exposed. Analysis returned metal concentrations that are quite similar to those which constitute the ore body of Cambior's El Pachon deposit located on the same regional trend. Disseminated copper mineralization on Cerro Carmen is the second most important economic target on the Coirn property at present.
3 - THIRD TARGET - Southern Gold Zone
In May 1998 a further new discovery of a gold-bearing fault breccia that extends over 10,500 sq. metres on surface was made (a 50 chip sample showed 0.20 oz/ton gold and significant silver). The southern gold zone comprises the third most important economic target currently recognized on the Coirn property.
MAJORS ON SITE:
At present, our consulting geologist is in Chile hosting inspections of the Coirn property by several major mining companies.
Summary
In the Rock Resources news release of June 5, 1997 the management of Rock Resources expressed the belief that our Chilean project could host a Potential Billion Tonne Copper Porphyry Deposit. Given our continuing exploration success over the past two years (in particular, the results of the recent IP and MAG surveys) we are now of the belief that the Mount Tacho Hydrothermal System (the main target) is large enough to host a world-class porphyry gold-copper deposit similar to those at Los Pelambres and El Pachon located northeast of the property-area.
