Actually, VWR is 50% owned by Merck AG, a German company which is unrelated to the U.S. pharmeceutical company. Having said that, there is no question in my mind that Chemdex will use its platform to scale into other businesses. The deal should be marketed in July. That's when things should get interesting for VWR holders.
