LT,

I am not a dell fan but bought in today.

I got in a tad over 34 and wrote Jan 2000 $40 call for $5.

I doubt if it will go down more than 50% off its 55 high.

And it could easily hit over $40.

I do think that the soho PC market is at an inflexion point and will go to a subscription model.

What a lot of folks forget is that most folks when they are looking at say $30/mo for and e-machines PC/internet bundle with a 2 year committ compared to a $45 bundle from say Dell- with a 3 year committ will likely choose the Dell solution in droves.

An example is buying a car. When you look at buying it with cold hard cash one's reaction is to price the thing to death. When it comes to financing it - folks look at adding a whole bunch more options and possibly an upgraded vehicle - as the cost adders are spread over a long period of time.

And because Dell/GTW do not have the distribution/reseller overhead I expect them both to be able to offer such a solution very cost effectively whereas the CPQ/HP/IBM guys will have a real problem with such a model.

Regards,

Kash
