I guess we are back to the golden rule, when you don't score the little round ball punishes you. And, oh boy, did they get punished?

I have never understood the philosophy of scoring and then getting back into an excessive defensive play (short of the opponent being far superior than you). Which in this case it does not seem was the case...

Unless I have a 2 + goal advantage, I consider a 1 goal advantage as a tie, until the finishing whistle....

The very large downside to play like that PARTICULARLY in an important game of this nature is that the opponent, upon scoring become psychological giants that can squash you in no time, since you become paralyzed with defeat fear....

I guess this game is the perfect example for such...

I have always been opposed to Baron Pierre de Coubertin (the initiator of modern Olympics), who said:

"In sports the important thing is not to win but to compete"

I prefer the opinion of Vince Lombardi (Coach for the Green Bay Packers):

Winning is not the important thing.... it is the ONLY thing!

I would have loved to watch the game.... oh well, there will be others... time to get another TV... <g>
