I was a little taken aback yesterday when I first visited the new Austin airport which opened this weekend. The arrival/departure displays, at least in the AA area, appear to be driven by scads of Compaq PC's (one for each two displays, of which there are 8 in a cluster, i.e. 4 PC's driving 8 monitors). I assume the contract for these went out to bid at some point; I would have thought Dell would have made more of an effort to showcase Dell machines here on "home turf."

I also wonder what sort of design requires that many PC's merely to drive a few screens -- maybe they're hoping at least some of them will stay up.

JMHO.
