New service provides customers and partners with application and operating system solution packages reducing the time to deploy software to end-users
ON Technology Corporation (NASDAQ: ONTC) today announced a new online service for ON Command CCM(TM) customers and partners that offers instant access to hundreds of automated installation packages for the leading desktop operating systems and applications. The instant availability of qualified ON Command CCM solution packages reduces the time to distribute operating systems and applications to desktops because they can be deployed to a broad range of hardware and software configurations without requiring any additional scripting. The new online service includes solution packages for leading desktop software including Microsoft Office 2000, Netscape Communicator, Lotus Notes, Novell Netware, Dell BIOS Flash Utility, Windows NT SP4 and Windows NT 4.0.
This offering leverages ON Command CCM's advanced native installation technology to allow IT administrators to personalize each installation with individual values, such as email addresses, on a single PC basis. This installation technology eliminates the need to visit the desktop to personalize any desktop parameters resulting in a lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of PCs and the acceleration of strategic desktop initiatives such as Y2K updates.
"IT organizations want to rapidly deploy new operating systems and applications as soon as they're available, in order to stay competitive with the latest technology," said Phil Neray, director of product marketing, ON Technology. "Our new Internet-based service gives customers instant access to the latest automated installation packages for software such as Microsoft Office 2000 and NT Service Pack 4 which leverage ON Command CCM's unique capabilities to accelerate time-to-deployment."
