It was bad. In a lot of ways. The script was really pretty bad. There were a bunch of spots early on in the film where you could tell the actors were really struggling with the script, most notably Anaken Skywalker's dialog was really awful. The scene where he leaves his mother is just astoundingly terrible.
The main alien character, JuJu Beans or whatever his name is, is just really lame, really terrible. Bad character, bad script, bad.
Speeder race and Evil Space Station demise ripped off from Empire, and the exact friggin' same ending as the first film.
The Force is explained as tiny beings that live in the person's cells that talk to you. Man, that is so, so, stupid. Lucas had a million ways to explain it, and he picked a really lame one. The only time George isn't lame is when he is ripping himself off. The more I think about it, the worse it seems.
There is some good stuff. The Queen character is good, that actress is good, and her dialog was OK. Senator Palpatine character; that actor was excellent. Liam Neilsen (sp?) is a good actor too, but his dialog really blew chunks. Samuel L. Jackson is a Jedi knight, he is cool.
Stale story line, bad script, awful dialog, lame characters.
The special effects were really good.
Costumes astounding.
Nothing could save that script.
