so, basically our membership to S.I. still will not include free real-time quotes. isn't that what everyone wants ?

As a Go2Net stockholder, would you like to see them give up the $24.95/month subscription revenue from ICQ users who also happen to be SI members? As a current subscriber to both, I hope to see the kind of dual-membership discounts hinted at in the SI/IQC message, but as a GNET holder, I'd expect them to maintain a good revenue base from IQC and from SI.

I figure it would be enough to give SI members the option of putting the StockSite ticker with real time data in a frame on the SI window (for those willing to fill out the required forms). If it's possible to also provide real-time data in the html table under messages then that would be great, but I fear it would slow down the display a bit. If that were the case, it might not be worth it.

IQC Real-Time is a chart package and doesn't currently offer the kind of real time data that everyone would want. It's ideal for those who want charts, but not for those who want tickers, Level II, or other kinds of data.
