It's possible John. Folks still can't seem to get a handle on how overseas production platforms will perform through the new year. But even with no disruption in oil flow, we only have so many refineries and any disruption their could REALLY become a problem. Fortunately, from what I've been able to discern, many embedded systems in use at refineries are for the purpose of monitoring flow rates rather than actually controlling them. Control software packages are more likely to be fully remediated in time. It is those pesky embedded systems that are like needles in a haystack to find and test. I've been following Y2K pretty closely for the past 3 years and I STILL CAN'T get a handle on any information I consider "reliable". But you might have noted that the recent downturn in the market was partially precipitated by an analyst from CS-First Boston issuing a SELL recommendation on the banks since he forsees nothing but systemic financial problems as we draw closer to the new year.
