Two days away from the one year mark on this portfolio. Hoping for a return of $100k even on about $150k averaged invested amount during the year. Not a bad rate of return considering the massive dive in tech stocks this portfolio survived. I'm not sure really how to calculate the average invested amount. Out of pocket was up to just under $500k by October 1998; but then it has mostly been a portfolio played with profits taken so the average amount invested might well be more like $100k even. It is really a complex mathmatics question beyond my patience to answer. Anyway you look at it; it's been a good year of solid trades in mostly dogs. It took massive averaging down to pull it off; plus a cooperative market. Playing the tech dogs like this though yields similar returns year after year; a great method.

Consider that I had no more information than casual internet research using just Silicon Investor, chart eyeballing, a casual knowledge of the technologies of the various companies, Yahoo daily news blurbs, Briefings comments, and about 5 hours spend per week with the market watching and trades. If you consider how amateur and how little time was put into this; often not even watching the market for days at a time; it is really amazing. If I had spend a full time effort and traded this all with more TA and patience; it could have easily been 3 times the return.
