..Another 'reason against' longer term holds. After being in this business for 3 years, what I see is that traders/investors are NOT holding 'choice' stocks for the intermediate term.. but rather are holding losers, that should have been stopped out. By not exiting losing positions and 'hoping' for improvement, some traders who consider themselves position or intermediate term traders end up with a portfolio of deadbeat stocks. And when the good stocks roll around and traders have their money in cash they can buy. But the 'longer term traders' are stuck in the losing positions, waiting for them to 'recover' and recoup the loses, because they were 'obstinately' against daytrading.. I'm sure you have all heard them say things like "Well I guess this is now a longer term hold." That is no way to profit from an intermediate portfolio.

This is not a perfect summer, sunshine world, where all your intermediate/long term stocks are wonderful 'Stepford' stocks, that always go up nicely because they are 'good companies'.. with good fundamentals.
